Updates

January 17, 2010 - Instead of studying for finals like I should, I decided to update my website today! I didn't have anything in particular that I wanted to do, so I just browsed the pages looking for things to fix or improve. Once change I found pretty noticeable was the addition of the Favorites Icon (). The three sides are of the cube are supposed to spell out L2C, but that's nearly impossible to tell. I've also made the Intuitive Last Layer section of my website public. I made that back in the summer, but wasn't sure if it was very understandable. Actually, I am still very unsure, but maybe if I have it public, that will give me more motivation to work on it. Lastly, my About Me became out of date again. (I'm not a senior in high school anymore!) So I changed that page, and during the process of doing that, I decided to check if my old FreeWebs account was still accessible! It was! The hard part was figuring out what email I used back then so they could send the password to me. I recreated the old website using the Internet Archive's WayBack machine and did some reminiscing. Well, now it's back to studying for finals. But I made a list of things to do for this website when finals are over! (List includes: use cookies to remember mobile/regular display, image/java cube display; move that very old website to this server so it won't disappear; improve F2L page; improve intuitive LL page)

December 24, 2010 - Happy holidays everyone! A bunch of broken links have been fixed. That is all. Sorry!

August 30, 2010 - This list of updates is getting quite long, so I've moved most of it to the Old Updates page. Now there is space to add some random banners to the bottom! Additionally, I have been working on a smartphone version of this website. It currently works with iPhones and Android devices. Actually, it should work on many other mobile devices, but my current way to detect mobile browsers is pretty bad. I'm using it for now just to test the browser; I'll find a better way later! Although... I'm leaving for college soon, and I don't really know how busy college will be for me.

July 25, 2010 - I apologize for the downtime a few days ago. My host moved from files from one server to another while I was in Europe for the International Olympiad in Linguistics. I was able to get the problem fixed eventually. Also, I fixed a typo in the Get Faster page, thanks to Diane L.!

July 2, 2010 - BIG MAJOR UPDATE. (But no new content. Sorry!) I've rewritten the entire template in Perl, since I've been running into a lot of PHP problems. However, that change shouldn't be noticeable. I've been doing a lot of testing so the transition should be pretty smooth. If you see any broken links or other errors, please let me know. The thing that I changed the most content-wise is the way the cubes are displayed. Now, you have the option (on almost every page) if you want a static image or a Java applet. Currently, you have to manually change from image to Java on every page, but I hope to figure out how to use cookies so you can set your preferences. Another change is the F2L submenu on the side. (You can only see it if you're on the F2L pages. Otherwise the menus would become so long!) Then there's the print settings. If you try to print something, I have removed the menu so it's not in the way. Finally (or at least I think it's the last one), there's a show/hide menu above the menu. That probably doesn't help that much though.

May 9, 2010 - Last Friday, my friend pointed out that I had promised in the About Me page to upload a video of myself solving the Rubik's Cube. That has finally been done! (Yes, that's Tyson Mao in the video!) I have also rewritten the About Me page, partly to bring it up-to-date, and partly to remove all the silliness.

March 25, 2010 - Well... this is an update to say that there have been no real updates recently. Second semester of senior year is not as relaxing as I thought (even with me deciding not to take any AP tests). I fixed some typos and errors in Steps 6 and 7. Thank you Royce for pointing them out!

February 3, 2010 - Yesterday, I didn't have to go to school until noon (yay!) so I used the morning to change hosts. I had two computers side by side. For some reason, one was accessing the old server while the other was accessing the new one. Now both are accessing the new one. I had to make a few changes for the website to run properly; however I may have missed some. If you notice any errors on this website, please let me know! Also, Step 2 of the beginner solution has been icube/java-ified.

February 2, 2010 - If you see this update, then that means the transfer of hosts is complete! Please let me know if any pages are missing.

January 30, 2010 - You may notice that Step 3 of the beginner solution is a little different. I switched from imagecube to icube because the latter is a lot more flexible. Also, the link to "Java cube applets to demonstrate the algorithms" has been replaced. Instead of going to a new page, you stay at the same page; the only difference is that the images are changed to Java applets. One of my plans during this "second semester senior" period is to do this for all the pages on the website. Also, I added on a reference sheet that I had made for my school's math team. Check it out in the page on printable solutions!
